Grease Neck Bearings
Verify before disassembly:

Secure the bike and make reference marks:

Not from the dealer:

These make nice mini-parts washers, drain pans, etc.:

A dollop in your palm. Push it in up, down, sideways, forward and upside down. This is the old fashion way. They make tools for this:

Bearings packed:

You can see the lock barrel in there:

Ready to go. A seal on the bottom of the stem, then a bearing before putting it in the neck:

During. Bearing then top seal. Piece of cake:

I used a sheet of 1/4" diamond plate to align the four clamps:

A custom touch on my powdercoated front end. The letters were cut out of the upper triple-clamp cover before powder (all that white stuff is a reflection in the gloss black):

I also added a powdered fork stem nut and a machined washer from a 2010 Sportster to spruce up under the risers:

Follow the manual for bearing preload/fall away procedure. It's pretty easy. Don't try this without a manual and a torque wrench. Watch your torque values. The preload is in INCH pounds.
