I had my conversion done to my Iron and love how the lady runs. She screams like a mashed cat and puts a smile across my mug. Here's my question. I drilled the stock mufflers with a 1 1/4" hole saw to let more sound out and I am really pleased with the noise level and like the look of the stock pipes and don't really want to go to another exhaust. Since the conversion HD installed an SE A/C (included in the kit) allowing much more air in. I know if you do the A/C and pipes you need a tuner but the EPU is downlaoded to the SE specs of the 1200 conversion so will the drilled out baffles cause me to burn my rings up? I assume that the download after the conversion would be done to support the extra air coming in since the SE A/C is included in the kit. What say you my fellow scooter trash?
The only way to do it right is take it to a good Dyno tuner shop, they will fine to to to max performance, and proper setting, if you need something to make it run better they will recommend products based on years of trial and error real world results. It would be very hard to burn up your rings from what you have done. Get it tuned right you won't be sorry
I am planning on a 1200 kit over the winter for my Iron. I already have a SE stage1, pipes and a deale re-map. What all do I need for this conversion? I want the motor to stay black like it is. If you do the SE from dealer, how does it affect the warranty. If you go NHRS and have it done at a shop, is warranty voided?

Go to the HD website and look in the parts section. Youll find the 1200 conversion in black that includes jugs, pistons, breather, etc.. If HD does the install then you remain under warranty. I know others on this site have done the 1200 conversion through other companies but I doubt HD will cover you as they are not HD parts. I was put in a financial pinch and had to go to the sporty. I got my 2010 Iron with the 1200 conversion for $7100. I think I got such an awesome deal cause this is my 3rd HD from this dealership and Im friends with the sales dude. I was under the mentality that you had to ride a big twin if you rode an HD but I was stupid and I am glad my hand was forced to get the sporty. The sporty is the best bike Ive ever owned and Im having a blast on it! You will not regret the conversion. If it wasnt for the conversion I dont think I would like riding the Iron.
