I call bullshit on this. I caught my pants on fire, with stock pipes and no heat shields, while doing about 70 with a passenger. Levis, no plastic, just standard cotton jeans. Not worn out either. Nearly new.

Any idea how much fire loves a 70 mph wind on it? I was very lucky not to get burned. I do wish I had the stock heat shields back now. But I had just taken off drag pipes, and am not sure what model stock pipes I bought. They fit my 99 Sporty 993 perfectly though.

Removed the shields on my XR1200. The rear set foot controls keep my legs away from the headers. Kept the small shield near the peg so I can rest my boot heel without melting it.
