If you have tried to change footpegs you will know nothing fits the stupid set up harley used. I went to the H-D shop yesterday and asked about changing the peg shaft from another sportster model. Bingo it worked Ordered 2 new shafts. Around 30 bucks apiece. Just thought I would throw this out FYI Have a great day

Yeah, I picked up some Silencer Footpegs and they wouldn't fit. So I just put them in a vice and ground them down a little until they fit.

The footpegs on the 48 are offset. How does the change effect your foot position? Wanting to change mine but looking for more info.

Default Footrests are same for Forty Eight and Rocker/Rocker C...

Forty Eight riders: Unless I am off the mark, the offset footrests on the Forty Eight are the same as the ones on the Rocker/Rocker C (rubber pegs offset down and to rear with peg feelers).

Other Harley footrests will fit the forward controls on the Forty Eight; however, placement will lift your foot up and forward. This may change comfort for some.

In some/most cases this also means you will give up your stock peg feelers which stick out from bottom of peg and drag when you hit a certain lean angle.

My take:

1. You will drag hard parts--exhaust, jiffystand, etc. when you lean the bike into a turn. If hard parts touch first instead of feelers, this could lever the rear tire off the ground and could result in a bad situation.

2. Foot placement and riding position will change slightly due to different offset and rise vs. stock footrests.

I'd recommend keeping the stock rubber pegs with feelers until/unless the aftermarket comes up with an offset peg solution.

NOTE: I own a Forty Eight and like the stock pegs as they are on a blacked out bike, but also once owned a Rocker and hated the stock pegs because they were so plain on a chromed sled.

Regards,

Karl

My husband installed these foot pegs
on my 48 by grinding the longer leg
on the stock shafts (just enough to
get the pin to go thru) I love them &
the heel rests make for very comfortable
riding on longer trips. The change of
position was so little that I never
noticed.

I'm not too keen on grinding those nubs off.
