What luggage setup works best for trips? I have saddlebags and a small luggage rack. Headed out next week to the beach for a few days. I know that on the big twins, luggage isn't a problem. But on the Sporty, it appears to be a challenge. Any ideas or suggestions welcomed. Thanks!!

I would think you could put on of those medium size T-Bags on it. My son just put a backrest and a luggage rack on his and he said that he is going to get a T-Bag.
I have a T-Bag Saddle Roll for short day trips and will get the Route 66 bag to go along with it . The Saddle Roll can sit atop the 66 bag and that will leave room on the passenger seat for tent and sleeping bag. To me saddle bags on a Sporty looks bad and the bags are so small that they are useless but that's just my opinion.
if you get a tbag pay the money for the real thing. don't get any of those cheapo leather ones. i bought one off ebay for like $70.00 and it is not bad quality it is just completely limp. it has no support whatsoever. you have to stuff as much as possible into it to make it keep it's shape and to stand up as much as it is supposed to plus in order to get to the stuff on the bottom you have to take everything out of it. check out the kuryakyn version of the tbag. it looks pretty nice. it costs a lot but looks like it's worth it if your going to use it. it opens from the back and has it's own little shelves inside of it so you can open it and take anything you want out of it and not have to take everything out of it to get to what you want. i tried saddlebags. ended up returning them. i went up for a 3 day trip from Long island to laconia and back this past weekend and my harley one nighter roll bag was enough for me for the three days.
SaddleBags don't look bad on a Sportster if you buy the RIGHT BAGS!! Email me for a bigger pic than my avatar. I haven't figured out how to post a good pic here yet.
For trips, I have T-Bags. When my wife goes with me, it sits on the luggage rack. If she doesnt go, it sits on the passenger seat to be my backrest!
