01 883 Sputtering the Dieing
Ok, Newbie to the forum. I seem to be having a problem with a 01 883 Sporty.
CV Carb 3.3 gal tank. 13,000 miles (bought it used with 3,800 miles on it last year. Daily Rider)
This issue started about a week back.
Was on a short ride and the bike started to sputter like it was low on gas.
Pull into a parking lot and it just died. Tried to restart but it acted like it was flooded. Trailered her home and checked the plugs back cylinder was fouled out. Changed the plugs and put a set of new Screaming eagle wires on it.
Rode it for a week to work everyday no issues.
Went on a long ride this weekend with some family, 1,200 miles.
She sputtered once on the way out the after about 500 miles and died.
Pulled to the side of the rode and restarted first hit no problems. Thought I had water in the tank from last fill up.
Stopped in Buds Harley Davidson in Evansville Indiana right about closing time. Explained to the service guys what had been going on. They we nice enough to check the Vaccum lines. everything came back no problems. Stated the same thing. Maybe water in the tanks. Got to where I was going (Fam Reunion) Put a couple ounces of seafoam in the tank pulled cleaned the carb. She ran great all weekend. Was on my was back home Monday about 400 miles into the trip she sputtered and died again. Tried to restart but would not turn over just would crank and crank. Let her sit for about 30 minutes tried and again and turned right over. Went about another 150 miles and she sputter again and died again. This time it was dark so I check for spark and wasn't getting anything off the back plug. Changed plugs anyhow. Check connection on the coil and boom she turned right over. Finally got her home that evening but the last 60 miles or so she was running rough spitting and sputtering and died another time but turn right over after I messed with the coil wires again.
I am thinking maybe a bad coil or I could be losing my ignition module.
Any Thoughts out there on this problem??

Did you notice your speedo going to zero MPH or jumping? Mine gave me the same issues about two years ago or so, and it turned out to be the 90* connection on the coil. Remove the 90* connections, give them a good squeeze/pinch while off the stud, and reconnect. Mine's been fine ever since. The connection seemed good while giving me fits. Once I gave them a good squeeze, I could hear the connection slide down over the grooves of the stud.
