I started to encounter this issue with my speedo where it shows I am moving much faster than I really am. When I parked it in the garage last night the needle was sitting at 30 MPH. Went out to the garage this morning and it now is resting back at 0. I am guessing it is binding up somewhere?
2008 Nightster with the only mods listed in my sig.
I have tapped on it but not when it is off the bike. I guess I'll have to try that next.
But last night took it for a spin and it stuck again. Decided to go for a ride this morning and it stayed where it last was. I did notice that when I turned the key to "on" the needle started to act like a "second hand" on a watch and tick its way back down to zero. Rode a decent loop around town and it is acting fine for now.
So Flatlander, is there a speed sensor that the speedo is getting this info electronically from?
Gpsjr10, I know what you mean about the feeling of speed be it moving or standing still. It sure feels fast, at least it does for me until one of those crotch rockets goes zipping by trying to break the land speed record.
