Aaron: i just ordered the solo spring saddle for my 48; am concerned it raises you too high from the ground versus the stock. How much higher do you feel you sit? 2 inches, even more? I'm around 5'8" and prefer to be flat footed on my bike.

thanks in advance, ed

I put mine on about three weeks ago. I'd say you're up 2" at the most. It's noticeable but not uncomfortable. I'm 5'9" and still very flat footed.
HUGE improvement for me over stock in comfort. Visually as well...

I made a 1/2" spacer to go under the front mount and it slid my *** back on the seat just right.

Loved the apes immediately - they gave me much greater comfort, AND control over the bike. I'm now going for 16"s. Pic below of the solo and the 12"s..

Took this idea from schwingding and raised the front of my seat about 3/4 of an inch and it feels a lot better. I do sit farther back on the seat. Like schwing I was always sliding back when I stopped to get more comfortable. Haven't ridden any long distance on it yet but will be riding to Biketoberfest at the end of the week (bout 150 miles) and will let ya'll know how it works out.

After reading everyone's opinions on the springer seat, I'll be ordering one very soon. Just got my pipes and air cleaner, now it's time for a little more comfort.

Rode my 48 with the spring seat to Daytona, bout 150 miles. Stopped once for gas going and once coming back. Not as comfortable as my Heritage was for sure but certainly doable even for an old guy like me (56). Raising the front of the seat 3/4 of an inch helped a lot for me as it seemed to place me in a better spot (further back) on the seat.

2) Do you have to hide/cover/relocate the ECU under the seat - would`nt it be exposed to the elements ?
When they went to FI, they put the ECU under the seat and the spring seat no longer would fit, in 2010 they changed to a smaller ECU, different wiring harness and relocated it off from under the seat.

Pagan do you have any pics of how you put the spacer on the front? I may do this as well.
