I'm internally wiring my clip-ons. I drilled the holes in the bars, and while the bars are NAKED, my throttle grip came apart. There are 2 cables with ball-ends held in with little brass ends that turn in place on the grip. Had a couple beers and decided to give up for the night. How the hell do I put the throttle linkage back together in the grip? LMAO! I'm so confused.... Tomorrow is another day....
don't got a sporty yet, but could be same as mine...pull the throttle cable so that you can insert the brass "ferrule" into it's hole having the cable vertical, cause theres a slot for it on top...repeat with idle cable...might have to loosen both throttle and idle cable to give'm some slack...drink one more and go do it...drink another one once done....careful them brass "ferrules" can fall and disappear on the ground specially after some brews
Thank you, ****. Seems like as soon as I post something on here "out of the realm of" TANK LIFT, COIL RELOCATION or HANDLEBAR RISERS, everyone shudders and is clueless. I have real questions. Not many people are smart enough to grasp that concept. Thanks!
I didn't take it apart. It feel apart while my back was turned. That's why I need help. I didn't pay attention to the way it was in the first place, cause there was no need to.
might be too late and not sure if it's same in sporties but the brake light switch likes to break if you don't shim the lever, then the brake light will stay one....
Uhh, mine did the same. IT takes a minute to figure out. I put the front facing brass do hickey in first. Then I put the grip on part way ( just to hold it). Next is the tricky part getting the other brass jobbie back into the grip, you have to get it lined up then twist the throttle back enough to get some slack. After a few tries lining it up it should go in.
+1 on the service manual, but I found it to be pretty easy once you adjust(loosen) the throttle and idle cables all the way. There is a video on the web somewhere that shows you exactly how to do it too.
