congrats on the new bike .. I got the orange/black also. I haven't seen another on the road yet -- just black, blue or black/silver denims.

Anyways, good deal on getting the cap off. From the pic, it looks like it was a locking cap with the cylendar removed. At least it's an easy fix ... replace with better cap.

I joined about two months ago when I got mine, but for whatever reason could not access it yesterday, so I made a new account...welcome to the forum, as well.

Ride safe brother.

Thanks Mad Chemist. I traded my 1998 Jeep Wrangler for the Nightster for $8,100. Not a bad deal/trade. I really like the orange and black vintage combo. It is my first bike. I passed my written test Friday and enrolled in the Harley Driver Safety course at my local Harley dealer. It is 24 class hours over 4 days. I am SO GLAD I paid the $425 for it. Once I have completed it successfully, I can skip the DMV road test and get my license. I feel so much more confident after only 2 days. Now I am driving my car as if it is a bike (scanning, planning an escape route, etc). It has already made me a better auto driver. LOL!

More questions to follow, I am sure...

I took the safety course as well....in Pennsylvania. It was free Long waiting list. Well worth it. I took #1 in the riding course. It's the best way to learn. You can always tell the difference between an experienced rider vs someone who took the course and is cautious. GOOD CHOICE!

streetfighter06, I like the headlight. How did you mount it like that? Homemade bracket? Your ride looks sharp.

I also took the safety course about 6 years ago. State offered, free with long waiting list. The info/experience is invaluable. As you mentioned MapleShadeHarley, the lessons transfer to all vehicles.

Take your time with the bike, don't rush into any bad situations .. enjoy your bike on the side roads and if you have the opportunity, find some windy country roads. I hate highway/expressway driving and do not recommend it until you have some miles under your butt.

Most of all, have fun on your your new toy.
