Unhappy transmission problem

Last week while getting off of the highway I heard this clunk clunk clunk while rolling up to the stop sign at the end of the ramp....It seems to be in the trans....I pulled the rear exhaust pipe and the front sprocket cover and the drive belt off....Now when I turn the front sprocket with motor not running and trans in neutral,I can hear and feel a clicking or knocking whatever you want to call it....inside something is just barely hitting something that it is not supposed to .. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what I should do ??????Last week when i posted this someone suggested front sprocket could be loose, but that is not the case..HELP please...thanks.

Are you sure the sound is coming from the transmission and not the clutch or primary case?

If something let loose in the trans then you'll have to split the cases to fix it.

If you only had a trapdoor it would be a piece of cake to inspect and fix it.

I'd still pull the primary cover and check everthing over, maybe a shift linkage issue if your lucky ??
