There I was ridin into work, my normal route. It was a great ride this morning, 68 degrees, clear. Was comin up on an intersection, truck was making a right hand turn into a residential area, I was in middle lane and I could see a car at the stop sign so I slowed so she could see me but the truck took his sweet time to turn, then she came out into my lane and decided to play tag. I guess I'm it.......
Tore off my saddlebag on the right side, broken turnsignal, dented oil tank, smashed my ankle and knee between the car and the bike,Went to doctor for x-rays will get results tomorrow. She told the officer and gave him an insurance card w/ a valid date but now says she doesn't have insurance. She doesn't even have a drivers license. I'm so pissed right now I could scream!!!!!![:@]
You try to be a responsible citizen of society and then you got these low life losers that should die driving around.
Damn I am so sorry to hear that. It pisses me off too. How's YOUR insurance??? I hope things are OK for you.
I honestly feel that people who drive without insurance and cause an accident should be held in jail. Yes, jail until the other person is paid in full for all their damages.
I truly hope things work out for you and hope your injuries are minimal. When I got hit I at least got some good drugs! Percocet's awesome stuff!
Does she have a house? How about the car? Don't settle out. Take her to court man. Especially if you are hurt. And WHATEVER you do, take your bike to a trusted dealer/service center and make the adjuster go there to do the appraisal. Hope you are okay and it all works out for you.. Just don't accept ANYthing as an answer without investigating it yourself. And if I were you, do NOT accept that YOUR insurance pay for this. Good luck!!
But... don't be afraid to file a claim with your insurance either. Your ins company has a whole "subrogation" department. Their job is to go after people and insurance companies on behalf of them and their insureds. They'll be able to do asset checks and have the legal training to go after her... just my .02.
I was recently sitting at a light in my truck when I heard the sound of screaming (not squealing or chirping) brakes; it's a girl, early 20's if that, and she's locked 'em up behind me. Surprise, surprise, she's on her cell phone. I gave her the stinkeye and the finger and was glad she didn't rear-end me. It happens so fast, you don't always know where it's coming from. I wish you a speedy recovery and, hopefully, your bad luck odds have been all used up.
If you can afford the price of gas, you can afford minimum liability coverage. It's a decision not to have it. If you're on the roads without it, then you've decided that no one else's financial well being is as important as yours. If you can't afford the minimul liability coverage because of your driving record and insurance claims - then take a hint and stay off the roads.
Sorry guys... just venting and I hate to hear stories like this. Thank God Sporthawg's injuries aren't worse. Simple trip to the doctor and x-rays can get expensive enough.
