Default won't start

okay, I just picked up my 87 883 this week, went to change the bars, and encountered some messy wires in the switch pod, I fixed the ones that were loose, but the bike will not start. someone had messed with the wires alot before, and when I removed the pod to install the pod two wires had come loose, so I fixed them, but it still will not start. I am thinking that maybe I blew a fuse, but I do not have a manual yet, are the fuses under the seat or in the headlight? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I promise to get a shop manual this week.

well if your fuses are positioned similiar to the nighster ,they are behind the batery side cover, also we have a master fuse positioned seperatlly with a bigger fuse.

in the battery area I do not have fuses, I have one normal relay and 4 smaller smaller retangular relays( at least they look like relays)
I am going to either redo most of the wiring near the switch pod , get a manual to see what wire I am looking for or take it to the shop. The wireing in the pod area is a mess and when I took it apart it did not help

Might be under the seat. I have an '87 Sporty and an '88 Sporty. There's at least 1 fuse under the seat that I've seen. It's attached by a small screw to either the frame or the inside of the oil tank cover (underneath the seat). I had the same problem of not starting with my '87.
