why does the softy version costs $100 more? more features?
seems to have a couple more functions but some require to buy some sending units...a noticeable diff in the display is the version for softails looks like a christmas ornament...lol...btw, thanks for the compliment...

that's a lot of colors...could be a bad distraction ;-)
ok, back to the garage now after dinner and doing my stage 1 screaming eagle intake mod ;-)
gotcha. thanks for the heads up! i really like that thing. I am prob gonna get it for myself for Christmas. The bare speedo is just too little information for a new rider. I need a tach bad. LOL I also would like to get the fuel gauge. <drooling>

Ride safe bro!
yep, my reasons exactly. i got the fuel gauge brand new on ebay for $150 if i recall correctly. do a search and check. cheaper than dealers/hd direct.
Was the install really easy? just like the directions indicate? remove old speedo, connect the wiring to the new, then calibrate? no need to rmove fuel tank, like other installs.

yep, no mechanical skills needed whatsoever. for sportsters it's very easy...no tank removal whatsoever.
- remove 2 torx screws on the back of the speedo.
- pull back plate off and unplug harness.
- pull stock speedo out and remove rubber ring.
- put stock rubber ring on d.d. and install into housing.
- plug harness in.
- tip: do NOT install back plate and tighten everything yet. turn on ignition so the gauge lights up and you can align the d.d. so readings are horizontal. when off it's completely black so need to make sure your readings won't be upside down.
- once aligned then reinstall back plate and rubber ring.
- tighten the 2 torx screws to spec.
voila...not even 15 mins actually and you're playing around the settings ;-)
