I am def ordering one of these and putting my chrome forks on hold.. on a side question. How accurate has your fuel level gauge been?
i've only put in gas 2x and none were from empty or close to empty tanks. plus from my o.d. you can see i've only had 175 miles on the bike (25 miles of which were from test rides of the new bike).
so far it seems quite accurate from what i can tell. each of the 2 times that i put gas in, it was showing 1/2 full and i put in about 1.8 or 1.7 gals of gas which is about 1/2 of the tank.
i have to say it's such a damn good feeling to know in 25% increments what's left in the tank...avoid pushing a close to 600lbs bike with my small 125lb frame ;-)
i forgot to mention that the programmable rpm limiter is actually a shift point indicator. it blinks on the rpm segment as well as the numeric readout (when you've clicked to that mode). basically, it renders this very expensive shift light useless ;-)
i went out for a night time ride of 36 miles tonight to test out the gauge. one thing i'll note is that i had set the dimmer setting to "no auto dim". i think that it's really bright at night, could be distractingly bright. i suggest using the auto dim setting set to "on" which is about 35-40% reduction in brightness and just about perfect at night.
i've sent feedback to dakota digital along with the pics and videos. perhaps you'll see a couple on their site. good luck folks and enjoy a very easy but highly useful mod ;-)
how you liking that harley fuel gauge?
Is it accurate or a piece of useless crap like the low fuel indicator light in the oem unit?
Nice gauge by the way, makes your bike look hi-tech
