I was thinking of getting a Memphis Shade windwhield for my 1200R to protect my pretty face from all the gravel and debris around where I live. I went to the dealer today and they showed me the HD version of the windshield with the quick release. It has a black frame (what I want) and runs about $359 complete with brackets, etc.
Anyone have any experience with the HD windshields? I had a Memphis Shade on my metric bike and it was great. Any concerns with the HD shade?
HD has the best Quick disconnect hardware. Comes off in seconds with nothing left behind. Shield is adequate.
+1 on that. I've had bikes with the Memphis shades windshields, and my 1200L came with the HD quick disconnect shield. I like the HD hardware better.
You might also want to research the material used for the clear portion of the shield. Memphis shades uses acrylic, and HD uses Lexan (polycarbonate). IMHO, there are advantages and disadvantages to both.
Added the largest HD shield I could get and the thing is great, pops off like like a new bra, trimmed and made some adjustments to allow for other mods and walla, what you see below, a mini-glide.
