Picked up a used sporty for wife, came with an HD quick detach windshield, which is too short. I'd like to get a replacement Lexan piece that is "standard" height to replace the short one that is on the bike. I checked the HD website and Memphis Shades website for possible replacements for the existing frame, but find no options. Does anyone know of an HD part number for possible replacement? I hate to spend big bucks for a new assembly when all I need is the plastic.
I have the same problem. I did find on the memphis shades web site the measurements for replacement windshieldsbut have not had the opportunity to compare those measurements with what is on the detachable windshield.
I can't really help you on the HD shield. I have the Memphis Fats and they sell the mounting hardware and lexan shield seperatly so replacing the plastic is no problem. Knowing how HD works (nickle & dime seperately) for each piece of hardware required to install an add-on option, I would think you could buy the replacement shield seperately. Have you called you local stealer? Shield height is usually measured from top to bottom of shield above the headlight.
I was looking to replace my Lexan down the road because right after I got the windshield I laid the bike over and scratched the left side. I AM going to wait until I am fairly certain I won't drop it again due to inexperience.
I was looking at the Memphis Fats/Slims and noticed that they said they won't replace the OEM shields. Is there some sort of modification that can be made? I have the hardware and really would like to have a shield that's color coordinated with the bike down the road.

I take it that it bolts right onto the HD hardware?
