Great idea, but I was affraid they'd get caught between the forks and frame when turning. I'll surely give it a try though ! Thanks !
Funny they were installed that way originally...
Anyone got good pics of where I should run the cables ?
I'm googling, but if anyone already has...
I ran the clutch cable outside, which seems OK.
I can't really run the throttle/idle cables elsewhere than between the forks because there is a plastic device placed there to pass the cables through. I also double-checked the service manual and that's where they go, so I can save the clutch cable but need to extend the t&i cables. Also my brake line is kinda tight.
With your help and advice, I saved 50$, but still probably need to dish out 200$ for the t&i & brake. oh well....
You don't have to run the throttle cables through the forks!!! Just reroute them to the outside. You're allowed to move the cables. That plastic device should just be stuck on with double sided foam tape, at least that's how they mounted it in '00. It's just like other people with the newer bikes rerouting all of those wires in that plastic thing under the tank in the front. Just don't put them in too much of a bend/binding angle, and you'll be good to go.

I'll give it a try for sure.
Thanks !
Last (but not least): the brake line is a bit tense.... how far can I stretch it ?
I just did the opposed, and I paid 39 dollars for 5.5 pullback risers, this would have solved your problem and still looked great with the drag bars...
Hi, All.
I need your collective wisdom here...
I've got this 2004 XL1200R with (and here's the issue) Drag Bars with 4" risers.
With these risers, maybe I'll still need to change to XL Custom cables ???
Anyhoo, your input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan
I got the stock bars,,,08 1200R,, comes with 1" risers.
To see If I could go to 2" pull back risers I Undid the bars and held
them In place,,stock cables will be fine, for 2" Pull backs.
Held for a 4" pull back check,,,Looked a bit tight even with a re-route.

Hi, Osco.
I had 4" risers + a 3/4" riser/stand-off, so I had the equivalent of 4.75" risers. I needed a bit more... the position was just a tad bit too fwd. OK, but no "great comfort".
I've still to try my new setup for a few hours ride.
