Default 2001 Sportster XLC Oil pump light

When I turn the inigtion on, the oil light comes on. The bike starts fine. After riding ,I turn the start/cutout switch off and the oil light comes on. The oil level is in the half full mark. What could be the problem? Not enough oil or replace oil switch?

Doesn't sound like you have a problem. The oil light will be on before you start the bike because there's no oil pressure. You start the bike and the light goes out because you have oil pressure....You shut the bike down and the light comes back on because there is no oil pressure anymore. You only need to start worrying if the light comes on while your riding or the engine is running.

+1 - It's not an oil pump light, it's an oil pressure light. You will only have oil pressure is the motor is running and turning the pump.
