You actually go through this routine every time you hop on your bike?
There have been times when I'm out the door and meeting someone.

But Yes for the most part I practice emergency stops at the start of every ride.
I don't ride it to work,, If I'm lucky I get to ride every weekend.

I use my brakes very efficiantly when I can,,I also use both always..
Brakes are cheap,,I do my own work.
I never do burnouts and If I skid the back tire thats an
out of control bike.
Most people I get to ride with are some miles away so I got time to do
a few drills while the tires warm up.
I've scared the crap outta more than a few people and I never let a
sportster follow me when Im diving Into a curve unless I'm dead shure
that rider Is very very Intimate with brakes.
I'm not some crazy Haul azzer But I do trail brake deep In the corners,
sometimes right up to the apex.
I take It easy on most rides with two or more bikes,,
I like to Putt In a mellow sorta way,,

BUT I take the bike to the edge often,,,Not to Impress, not to get
a rush,,that happens anyways,,
I do It because I wanna be comfortable with all of the bikes abilities
right to the limit,,,
So when they day comes that something happens I can deal with It.

I've had the back end get loose on me In a turn,,Practice saved me.
I added power and steered deeper, power and brakes at the same time
can save your azz when either tire slips.
The Sporster has some pretty good abilities.

Started Loosing the front end at low speed In a bit of gravel..
Pissed off the cager behind me when I throttled up hard and
stood the bike up,,,don't think I did any damage to the cager,,
flying gravel Is hell on paint.

IMO If a rider cannot hold the front tire at a Howl, thats right before lockup,
And make the back tire howl a bit and NOT lockup
during weight transfer,,That rider needs practice.
Different road surfaces constantly change braking.
Looking at the road don't always cut It.

That forward weight shift needs a constant readjustment of the rear brake pressure.
Practice time,,,will make stopping easy.

Yeah Yeah I know,,,
I got It bad,,,
I really really like My Sporty,,,
Imagine that,,Riding a Sportster like a Sportbike XD

Congrats on the new bike and I love the looks of the White superlow. On a side note it freaks me out when people say they have to learn how to ride, I guess I feel that way nice I have been on bikes all moy life so riding to me is like walking, maybe easier than walking LOL! I'm not a huge fan of the classes, but take them and go from there, Riding is something I feel can only be instructed about 20-30% the rest is feel and knowing what to do and when and that all comes by feel and time. One good thing is about takeing the class is you get to wreck there bike before you wreck yours. I think if you have the room it is always best to buy a cheap dirt bike with a clutch and learn on that for a bit then cross over to street. I know i was a bit freaked out on the first few street rides I took, but having been on dirt bikes, qauds and a few street bikes made it flow all that much faster. Now like I said it's like walking even after a long winter break.

I was not trying to be a d++k so don't take it that way and i know everyone has to start somewhere-I just don't like to see people get hurt and nice bikes dumpped. I have rode with many people that did not grow up on bikes that got a bike, took the class and hot the street and yeah they hit the street or something else. Take your time, get use to the bike by sitting on it, pulling the clutch and getting to know all the controls real well. If you have a open drive way that is paved then practice taking off slow and stopping, this will get you use to the clutch.

Not sure why you think that but I didn't take it that way. It was good helpful advice.

My wife took the class ,done real well. We bought her a superlow a month ago and she has put 850 miles on it so far and rides like she has done it all her life. I actually took it too and really enjoyed it as well, so take the course for shure and u guys will love the bike, i take hers out when she will give my the key, lol. We rode about 250 miles Sunday and with all stock she was not tired or hurting no where but a little on her neck that i believe was from wind. I have talked her in to a shield for when we get out on the road again. But from the twisties to 75 on the hwy she done great and so did the bike.
