I just installed my forwards, just removed the front muffler..
How hard depends on the quality of the kit,, I got an aftermarket chrome kit with ISO pegs, and the machining was not the best It made it real hard to get the pegs and peg springs mounted on the clevis, I actually used the clevis from the right side stock mids, and one of the stock peg springs, and one of the stock peg hinge pins to get it to work.
I put forwards on my '08 Nightster. Only issue I had was extra build up of powdercoat in the front mounting holes. I had to re-tap the holes. All I did was remove the exhaust slip ons not the header parts. Used a "T" handle allen wrench on the bolts.
Most important tools - a good friend, a couple of beers and patience.
Just got a set of forward controls for my Iron, on a scale from 1 to 10(1 being filling the gas tank and 10 being total engine rebuild) how hard is it to install. And do I need anything else other then what comes in the package. Thanks.
Im looking at getting same controls from the same people... was a bit concerned with the quality, how do they look?
They look pretty good, the machining is not the best, one of my clevis' was mis drilled, but they overnighted me another. The hinge pins just barely fit because of the chroming,, you may need to touch the edges of the hinge pin head with a grinder and the stupid little flat springs for the pegs are not quite right, I just used the hinge pins and springs from my mids.
