Not bad at all for simple mods. To me it's not no how big of numbers your bikes makes it's how it runs and feels out on the road.

these # are very impressive considering my wide glide only made 72 hp and 81 flb and it has cams ac and pipes on it.the sporty is going to get some up grades this winter with a 1200 kit first on the list.

My numbers were almost identical to Bwana's with the mods below. I agree that it's more in how the bike runs and feels afterwards. It's a world of difference.

thanks for everyone's feedback. Yes I tried to get bang for the buck parts...im pretty happy with the results. It feels and rides better.

I also think it's the person tuning it.

Cheers!

If you have gone as far as you want with the engine turn your attention to the handling, better suspension etc and unsprung weight as in aluminium rims.

@madmax442 85hp, looks like i have to mess with the engine to get more power...but can you really tell the difference between 77hp and 85hp?
I had 79hp before the new pipe went on. I haven't ridden it yet but I'm sure I will be able to tell a difference!

The best test is to dyno the bike before the mods, then do it again after. That will at least show you the impovements made.
But as far as HP and torque numbers, it's really easy to "tweak" the numbers on the dyno runs. So I don't usually pay much attention to them.

Bingo.... We have a winner!!

My Harley mechanic friend that performs dyno tunes has told me many times how 'easy' it is to tweak the numbers.

You can take the same bike, on the same day, run it on three different dyno's and get three wildly different results.

Yea, dynos don't always give the truth.
Suppose I just spent a big wad of cash at my mechanics shop for engine upgrades/mods and such. Then I ask him to dyno it to see what I gained. Do you think he will come up with low, or mediocre numbers for you??? Hell no! He will give you dyno #'s that convince you that your money spent at his shop was well worth it! He wants to impress you with what he did.
But dyno it somewhere else afterwards....and you might be disappointed.
Not all dyno operators are going to trick you......but not all dyno operators are going to be 100% truthful either.

Hell, I had a dyno from a base 883 bike compared to the dyno after I did a 1200 upgrade with ported and polished heads and a stage one upgrade. I didn't get as much improvement as some people here claim to get with just A/C and pipes!

So yea, dyno numbers don't really mean much.

Yeah, I've had quite a bit of work done to my 2003 WideGlide, including cams, forged high compression pistons, head work, Mikuni high performance carb/intake, this, that, and whatever...

When my friend put it on the dyno to get everything 'dialed in' and adjusted correctly he told me the true rear wheel figures were something like 97 horsepower and 102 pounds of torque. (Or something close to that, I have the actual figures somewhere)...

At the time he joked with me and told me that if I wanted to have bragging rights and be a member of the so called "100 Club" (which I assume means that you have at least 100 rear wheel horsepower and at least 100 pounds of torque) all he would need to do is tweak a couple of adjustments on the dyno machine.

Makes you wonder but like you said, if someone talks a person into spending a bunch of money for performance modifications many of them will want to show the highest possible numbers on a dyno run, even if those numbers might not really tell the complete truth..
