i was riding real slow ...then a car turns rite in front of me ...what do i do slam the front brakes and turn rite at same time .....front tire locks steering turns full rite i see myself falling !!! bike goes down really slow ...luckily it lands slowly on handlebar ....tiny scratch on my exhaust and bent freaking dragbar!!
eeekkkk ...
other car just drives off just wish i could
nothing happened to me nor the bike just bent dragbar!!! ordering 1 now from drvtwin ... thinking of i should go for Drag Specialities Tattoo series dragbar or Chubby dragbar ....
I am sure you thought of this but next time, and there will be a next time, at slow speed do not even go near the hand/front brake. Stand on the back brake instead. There is a speed in heavy traffic where I usually cover the front brake, meaning have hand on lever but not pulled, then as I slow my hand comes clean and firmly wrapped on throttle.
dude that sucks i also was in accident i was goin down the road and a lady in a truck decided to not look both ways when she crossed the road and turned right in front of me i wrecked my bike. but got lucky with minimal injury still waiting to hear from insurance on my bike if its wrote off or not... glad your ok... take er ez
NEVER slam the front brake! Learn to squeeze it. These are things that you need to practice in a controlled environment. You should never make the tire lock up. If you're locking up either tire, then your braking improperly. Practice emergency braking in parking lots using both brakes. As you practice, practice squeezing, not grabbing. What you practice is what you will do in an emergency. If you never practice, you will find yourself in just the position you did.
The only time you want to be wary of the front brake is in low traction situations (rain, dirt, etc.). Speed is not an issue.

Like I said, go find and empty parking lot and practice emergency stops. If you don't practice it, your brain won't automatically do it when you need it to. Work on learning to squeeze the brake. Start slowly and work up.
