Default help jetting

I have read alot of info on here regarding rejetting but have some questions. I am in the process of jetting my wifes 05 883L, she has cycle shack slip-ons and i am going to put on an arlen ness big sucker stage1. could somebody please tell me what to do. I have read change both main and slow, get a jet kit dont get a jet kit,04and laters are diffferent and so on. The jets in hers are, main-175 slow-45. The bike is popping and running hot. Any suggestions would be apprieciated. Thank you

i Have a 06 883L and my carb had a 42 slow and a 175 main. i bought the jet kit from sorgy's off of ebay it came with a 45 slow and a 180 main and 4 new stainless bowl screws
i then removed plug from air fuel mixture screw and have it at 2 turns out and bike runs great. i also have cycle shack slash cut slip ons and the SE air cleaner kit.

Wow, now I know I'm not alone. When I went to rejet I was expecting to see a 42 slow and 160 main according to what I had read on the forum. So I bought a 45 slow and 170 main to put in there. When I did the rejet I found the jets were 42 and 175, just like your guys'. I ended up leaving the 175 in there. I'm now wondering if I need to go up to the 180 main.

Thanks for the info. i think i better look at the slow jet again, it was very hard to read. I will get a magnafying glass just to make sure. I also went to drill the plug out on the idle mixture and it was already done, is this normal for a dealer to do this. Thanks

Sounds like someone has already tinkered with your bike. The slide spring may have been replaced or shortened thus causing too fast action causing the popping (replace with stock), the needle may have been changed (replace with stock and add one shim or if it is adjustable drop the clip one knotch). The jets are about right on. On my 1200 Roadaster I have 45 slow, 180 main with a single needle shim and 2-2/3 out on mixture and it rips.
