Default 883 SuperLow vs 883 L ?

I'm getting ready to purchase a 883 for my wife. Do you think the Superlow is worth the $1000.00 extra they are asking for?

Which bike does she like better. My wife is short. 5 foot 2, the lower the better for her.

The SuperLow is the new 883L. They are both exactly the same height (seat & ground clearance). The SuperLow has a much improved suspension that improves handling and ride comfort. It also runs on radial tires as opposed to bias-ply.

So really, what you're asking is in the difference between the 2011 883L (SuperLow) and the pre-2011 883L. So, figure you take a 2010 883L and spend the money it would take to make it handle and ride better, I bet you'd spend more than $1000.

Agreed, the superlow has had good reviews compared to the old 883L so I would say that is the way to go, unless of course it's going to be one of those "wives" bikes that get 200 miles a year in which case save the $1,000.00 and get the cheapie for her.

My wife has the new XL883L, and absolutely adores it. She tried the 2010 L, and it just wasn't the right bike for her. Of course, YMMV.

My wife has a superlow also, she loves it, i like to ride it as well. Its really a lot softer ride than the other sportys i have rode, and she cant get enough of it we ride every chance we get, and have been out 250-300 miles and no complaints on comfort.

the three big differences are the L has 11in very stiff shocks, taller bias ply tires, and the 3.3 gallon tank. the SL has taller more plush shocks, they keep the low seat height by using lower profile radial tires, and it has the 4.5 gallon tank.

The lower profile tires, lowers the bike differently, and that is why if you look at the spec sheet, while the ground clearance is only .1in different, the SL does not have as good a lean angle number as the Low. 24.4/24.7 for the SL vs 29/31 for the Low

I have the Low, and with a good seat, I have a Mustang, the stiff shocks don't seem too bad. The stock seat was brutal. But I am not short, so I am installing taller progressive suspension shocks to get a better ride.

Default SuperLow

Just got back from the Dealer and they had already sold the last 2010 883 L so that helped out with deciding on which bike to pick. The problem we ran into was the price. I know it’s confusing on quoting out the door prices, but I’m going to anyways!

The bike is the 2011 White/Orange 883 SuperLow with the security system and a set of chrome switch covers already installed. They initially quoted 11,200.00 taxes and everything. I fought with them and they went down to $10,100.00. I wouldn’t move over $9500.00. So the sales manager let me walk out the door at that price. Do you think they are asking too much or do you think their deal is reasonable? One thing that I thought was high was the set-up assembly fee they were charging was $1300.00. Anyways, I live in Las Vegas, so I’m going to call a few out of state dealers and see if they are willing to do a little better. I’m not trying to get the thing below cost but I don’t think in the current is economic climate I should have to pay above retail. P.S. I currently own a 09 Ultra Classic.

We were in the same situation a few months ago. It broke down like this. Dealer was offering the white/orange superlow with security for $9200 OTD. They also had a 2010 883L in scarlet red for $7200 OTD.

With a $2k difference in price and the fact that the superlow does not have any color schemes that really pop for 2011, it was an easy choice for us. We got the 2010.

Another added plus was that I have an Iron883 and almost all the parts and service procedures are interchangeable and identical between the bikes. We have had absolutely no regrets with the choice and would absolutely do it ten times over again.
