Default Dyno With Reject - Why?

I have been calling around town getting quotes for installing new pipes on my '05 1200R (Short Shot Staggered). Every place I have called including the HD dealership says that I will have to get it dyno'd when I have it rejet... which costs like $250.

So a rejet kit which costs $10 and half hour of labor $50 more or less... a $60 job turns to $300 because of this. I am just wondering why the dyno is necisary with the rejet?

It's not. It just makes the changes easier if you can see what the changes do. Most of us use the ride it dyno.

I would call back and double check the dyno price. My dealer told me 250 too, but that was for fuel injection which includes a labor intensive remapping with the computer. It only ran me 50 bucks on mine since i have a carb, which all they do is a basic dyno run that will give you torque, hp,and air/fuel ratio. Remapping allows them to make many adjustments with the computer, but with a carb, all they can adjust is the idle mixture screw. The rest is done with jet changes or jet kits. It was well worth the money because I had thought I had done a decent job rejetting it myself, but it was actually running a bit lean. Now after a second rejet and dyno, it really runs good. Hope this helps and good luck.
