Default 07 where's the chrome?

I was at the stealership and saw the 07 50th Aniversary Sportster. I was amazed at how little chrome was on it. Then the price, $11,200. Is HD going away from chrome? My 95th Anniversary has chrome everywhere. Even the engine on the 07 was black metal. Needless to say I wasn't impressed. I hope this isn't a trend for the future. It makes my 98 look real good though!

Nah, they're not going away from chrome. You just didn't get a good look at the accessories catalog they will present to the buyer of that bike. It's the old Gilette theory. Give them the razor, sell them the blades.

For an anniverary model, I'd prefer less chrome and more natural finishes like the first couple of generation of Sporties.

The Anniversary model isn't about chrome. It's about making a retro Sportster. Im not a huge fan of the 50th Anniversary model but from a retro viewpoint, Harley did a nice job on it. Back in the old days, chrome was nowhere to be found on a Sporty. If you want chrome, step it up to a Custom model...In any model of Harley...

I'm not a big fan of chrome, that's why I ride a flat black Street Bob.But that's beside the point the combination of gold and chrome on the anniversery model is hideos.I really wanted to like this bike but the fake gold tank badges look like something Kawasaki did in the eighties.Anybody remember the "Specter".

Less chrome and more painted parts means more profit for the dealers after a sale. They know what they are doing when they do this.
The parts they sell to replace the painted parts usually carry a 100% markup for the dealer. That's a tidy profit for them.

If you've seen the Tony Stewart ad on TV about how every time he fixes up part of his house using his sponsors stuff, he either places well or wins a race, then you'll understand my logic.

Every time I add chrome to my '04 Custom, I'm sure it goes faster. I haven't tried top speed yet, but I figure with the amount of the bling I've added I should be able to break the sound barrier.

I don't think you get my point. Here is a picture of my 95th Anniversary Sportster, and it is completely the way I bought it. I have not added anything from the day I bought it.
