I quit racing in the 70s when they ruled all riders had to wear full face buckets AND cervical neck braces. I could not turn my head fast enough to see who was along side me.
How come all the big tracks still require both pieces, but on the road its ok to snap your neck from impact with out the neck brace?
I have a wee 1/2 lid, and a big melon, so I had to trim some of the foam out, so it would not be top heavy. That was in 1986, and Im still here, and my neck aint broke.
I do have a 3/4 for middle of the winter riding. Ive used it once this year. The medium woman has a scorpion full face, and the neck collar. She only sits on the back.

How many times has your head hit the ground since '86?

And I've worn a Full Face helmet my entire 30 year riding career, had one big crash when I was forced off the road by an oncoming car in my lane, in the middle of a corner, and guess what? My neck ain't broke either. And because of my helmet my brains still function properly. The idea that a FF will cause injury and impair hearing and vision is a myth of the past that should die right along with the "NEVER USE THE FRONT BRAKE!" myth.

Give or take, NONE
Just fast enough to stay out of the graveyard.

I raced for decades, and yes they do impair your vision. (The ones from the 70s). The one I worn when my front tire blew at 135 shattered on impact with the track, and injected pieces all the way into my face.
All buckets have pros and cons. NONE protect you
from soccer mom & diesel dan.
If you get hit hard enough all they will give you is an open casket funeral.
I have two shortly helmets that I like. One is a Ridex RX100 and the other is a Skid Lid. You can get each DOT approved and in several different styles.
