There isn't a biker out there that doesn't need improvement on there skills.
After years of riding, you have all the instincts you need. By riding, you keep your reflexes sharp.
If your a fair weather rider, well then you get rusty over the winter, and get to have a refresher every spring.
I agree with what most everyone else is saying. It's all a matter of weighing the pros and cons.
I've gone down twice. One was my fault, one was completely unavoidable. Both times I thought pretty hard about whether it was worth the risk. So far those thoughts only lasted a day or two.
G-d speed in whatever you choose to do in the long run.
When i fly commercial, i figure today might be the day but more then likely not. I'm gonna fly because i would rather do what gets my rocks off then to hide behind a fear that something might happen to me. I've wrecked every bike i've owned at some point. It's worth the risk to do what i enjoy. I still think of how awesome it is to be on the open road with a bike under me every time i ride. I think of the lookers that wish they were doing what you were *riding your hog*. I may crash and burn someday, i may not survive but does it really matter as long as your doing what you want to do because you chose to do it? Ride on. I've been hit by two cars as a pedestrian, been in a car wreck and it wasn't my time. If you stop riding because your afraid about you might not survive then you should probably stop eating because you could as easily die by choking to death as you could wiping your bike. Glad your ok!
I'm glad your okay man, sorry to hear about your not wanting to ride anymore. I was in a recent accident about a month ago, nothing major, I was going about 25 or so, couldn't slow down in time, tried to swerve out the way, hit the car in front of me, flew off my bike; I felt like a damn idiot but I was glad to be in one piece, maybe you just need a break or something.
