Default Need some info for new bars

I'm looking to put drag bars on my 09 xl1200c and can't find the info I need. The bike is currently stored at a friends and covered, so it's easier to just ask. I know..lazy LOL

Anyway, I know I need 1in diameter, knurled, dimpled bars for easiest change. I'm just putting them on the stock risers, because for my height, all I need is a slightly more forward and wider reach.

The problem I'm having, is that I can't find what my knurling center is. I believe it's 3.5, but don't know for sure. Anyone know off hand? Or am I going to have to measure?

PS.. I keep finding this forum on searches.. so I've registered and will be browsing around more.

When I was looking for bars, I didnt find knurled and dimpled, so I went with dimpled.
You could knurl them yourself.
These are the widest ones you can use with standard Sportster wiring and mounts.

I got 32" drags with a 6" pullback off eBay for $40. Think the seller was Sam powersports 1 and they fit perfectly.

I'm looking at Flanders drag bars.. wide or narrow 18 degree. Narrow are 27.5 wide, same as my stock ones. and wide are 33.5 wide. I may go with the wider, but according to ebay listing and the Flanders page, they are both dimpled AND knurled. My question was.. the center to center measurement of the knurling on the stock bars. I found a site that gives me the measurements of the stock clamp width and another site with the measurements of the knurlings on the Flanders bars.. So basically, question answered.

Thanks guys, appreciate it! I will post up some pics when I do the bars, signal relocation(FR and RR) and layback plate. Now to talk to the old lady about yankin the sissy bar.. she don't ride much anyway LOLOL

Flanders bars are correctly dimpled and knurled for Harleys.

They are 3.75" center to center, though.

Ok, so the 3.75 shouldn't be a problem? I'm using the stock risers and clamp, seeing as I don't want to mess with changing the speedo setup just yet. According to the chart, the stock clamp is 2.5 x 5.5. I don't know where mine are knurled, but I can't imagine it's right at the edge. I guess I should take a look at mine first just to be sure.

Your stock clamp will work just fine with Flanders bars, or any other with 3.75" center to center knurling.

I did a bar swap on an 09 1200C and it had drag bars on it when it came.

BUT...because of the tank width and the pullback risers (stock) the throttle cables hit the tank leaving a hella scratch. Just don't go too narrow.

you can still go with the fat bars...the center and grip ends are still the 1" size
