Oops sorry straps I have one with the exact same title my bad! Flame away guys I know it's coming lol. Straps contests on the scooter get some pics up.
I like granny's comment. It's really frustrating to read a post like the OP's and have to sit and wonder what the heck is the problem. I agree there are no dumb questions, but they come off as even dumber when asked in incoherently. Couldn't the OP have simply said -
"Hey, I got a new harley. It's an 84 sportster. It came with 20/50 oil. Is that right? Also how often does it need to be changed?"
Arguably a dumb question but it doesn't make you feel dumber for reading it.
i do have another set of jets for back up,and i did have a little black smoke before the flames shoot out,but i replaced the plugs and it quit blowing the smoke but i get the flames still,i'll run the bike over to a buddy of mine instead, harley is jus ruff on my wallet.
You say when you give it gas you're getting the flames? Definately sounds rich and I'm not familiar with the carbs on those bikes but I know the later carbs have a little accelerator pump in them that when you give the carb a handfull of throttle it squirts a little extra fuel into the carbs throat so the engine doesn't go lean until the fuel from the jets catch up to the new air flow. Sounds to me like it might be adding TOO much fuel under acceleration.
I would think that if one of the jets was overall too big that you would have issues on deceleration as there would be way too much fuel for the slight bit of air that was now coming in until the jets once again compensated for the lower air flow.
