I was also curious if there was a way to keep the stock pegs along with the forward controls just for the sake of changing positions as i ride. Any thoughts?
I bought a set off ebay ... no name and most of the metal was dicast zinc pot metal ... one dump ... especially the main brackets and they would have snapped and needed replacing ... so I returned them for the shipping cost ... I finally got a set of left over new HD ones for 230 which is about 30 % off retail ... what a difference ... the main brakest are solid steel and would easily support the bike in a lay down ... and all the other parts are steel or cast aluminum which is easily 2 times tougher ... I hate to pay HD prices ... but at least the stuff is sturdy ... I have been driving over 30 years and have layed down every bike I have ever owned at least once ...
the sporty 883 is 550 lbs but doesn't compare weight wise to the beemer I had at 700 and rolled in a loose gravel driveway at 0 mph
it still crushed a $1000 power windshield ... so I got forwards and perfer the HD ... good luck
I have the HD forwards on both my bikes and that is the only set up I will go with. made good and fits right. My step dad has aftermarket forwards on his 02 883 and he has had issues with the bolts breaking while riding and the sfifter does to fit super good.
