Default Doing some work need help

Well, I finished with my tank lift coil and ignition re-location, but I have a slight problem. I need to re-route 1 existing set of wires but can't seem to figure out where they connect. I have a manual, not a lot of help here. So to anyone who can help me out please chime in. On the right side of the bike you have two cables/wires one is for the clutch, the other seems to run along the front of the frame. Here is a pic of what I'm talking about. I want to disconnect this set of wires and re-route them

Now its obvious that I can disconnect at the two connections, but there is at least one more that I cant see.

Soup, you should have more than a couple wires there. In the front of the bike is the voltage regulator (I believe is one of the boot protected connectors you have circled), crank position sensor (I know that is one of those boot protected connectors you have circled), oil pressure switch and I believe the neutral switch and horn wires run down that front down tube also.

If you could tell us the color of the wires that you are talking about it would be easier to tell you where they go.

I just redid my wire tuck a week or so ago. Are you referring to the oil pressure switch?

The two boot connected are simple to unplug. Thats not my issue. The problem is I cant see where the other connector(s) are running. It seems as if the go behind the voltage regulater which has a plastic caddy located behind it.There are not any connectors anywhere else on this particular line of wires. In other words, I did the tank lift and wire tuck, disconnected all the plugs and re-ran the wires along the top of the spine. That was fine, re-routed the ignition, that was fine, but this set or wires now crosses over from the left front of the bike to the right side of the bike along the front of the jug. In order to clean up the bike and make it cleaner, I have to dis-connect this wiring system and re-route the wires along the left side of the spine and down the front of the tube. The only place to disconnect these wires is along the bottom. I guess what I am asking is how do I access the wires that run behind the regulator? Dont know if these will help



As you can see ( barely) That is the wiring I'm trying to access and re-route. Definitely goes behind the regulator, definately has at least one connector, just need to get to it. Thanks again.

Alrighty....here is what I see from the top pic:

1). Red and black wires coiled around eachother go to the regulator and one of the booted connectors that you know about already.

2). The separate red and black wires go to the crank position sensor...the other booted plug you know about.

3). The tan wires goes to the neutral switch. There is a plug under the frame...only one wire...that is where you unplug that.

4). Green / yellow wire goes to the oil pressure switch. That is located if I remember correctly right under where the oil filter is threaded onto the lower case. I believe that is just pushed onto the oil pressure switch and just pulls off.

5). There might be a couple wires and an unused plug for the kick stand safety switch that is used on international models. I don't remember off-hand what the wire colors were.

EDIT: Found the colors on the other site: red/white, black and green/brown go to the jiffy stand switch (switch is actually only on international models).

I just did the wire tuck last week and I was able to pull enough slack up from the front of the bike to tuck it up under the tank. the wires for the horn was long enough to put above the front tank mount and the ignition switch on the right side of the bike.

Thanks for your help. I gotta wait till Friday and see if I can get this done. Like I said all I want to do is move the existing wire ( see top of spine ) from the right side to the left, without it crossing over the front of the engine. To do this I have to dis-connect from the bottom, ( where the boots are ) and re-rout the entire length along the left side. Again, thanks for the input.

DK Custom, that was a great link to parts diagrams. I am replacing the horn cover, and even though its pretty straightforward, the diagram on that link shows me what I will be getting into before I start. Thanks!
