hey what's up guys...are all 'lepera barebones solo seats' for 82-03 sportsters made the same way? and by that i mean with the same material and same seat height? I'm trying to buy one off ebay and some say 'sologel' or some look thicker and higher than others. I'm trying to buy the lowest and thinnest one possible (i'm a short guy 5'2 ). and it'll definitely fit my 84' xlx 1000 right? I just don't want to end up buying something that i'm not happy with. please let me know!!
You may want to check out the Lepera web site if you haven't already: http://www.lepera.com/seat_pgs/v3_Sport_79_result.php
I think the seat you want is the one that just says "Barebones" not the LT series.
I just put a Corbin Hollywood Solo on my Sportster along with Burly Slammer Kit, (the bike is very low now...)
Good Luck,
Rod
does this look like the 'barebones' to you or the 'barebones LT'? They're very identical, but i think the LT is supposedly lower...the bike below is an 86 xlh 1100, would it fit the same on my 84 xlx 1000? the lepera website says in general "82-03 sportsters"

It looks like the plain Barebones for a Sportster, but you may want to call Lepera. I found them very helpful, no push to buy from them.
Does your seat bolt to the fender with a tab to slip under on the front of the seat?
Rod
This most likely isn't helpful but here is a bad photo of how a Corbin Hollywood Solo fits on a 1990 Sportster XL. The same way the Lepera would fit, I believe. Not sure about any difference in the '84 1000.

yea, the seat is bolted to the fender, but im not sure about the tab. my bike is actually in my brother's garage an hour away from here. so i can't even check =/
i'm just going to have to buy the seat and trust that it fits. the site says fits 82-03 sportsters, and my bike is an 84 sportster..xlx 1000. it's the xlx i dont trust; i've never seen it before. i feel like the xlx is different than other sportsters. i'm just new to harleys, and trying my best to learn and be careful with parts.
But thanks a lot for all the help guys. (this is going to sound weird) especially you, HOT. haha

Just one more 2 cents on my part; You may want to go with a new seat, that way you can return it (most of time) and they can make it fit. That Corbin I put on Sportster, I had to send back and get the nose cut back... I brought a LePera for the Street Bob and it fit perfect.
Later,
Rod
Let us know how it works for you. The picture you put above shows the BareBones, not the LT one. The LT one goes up to the tank more. I am considering the BareBones for my 02 883C as well and am looking for the lowest seating possible.
