Hey everyone, new owner here. Im Chase, 19 years old, and live just north of Oklahoma City. I recently got an 07 nightster with 10,000 miles and a couple goodies, such as, vance and hines short shots, screamin eagle air cleaner, oil temp gauge, and tuned by Harley. Since the picture (below) of the first day I got her, i've added smoked tail light and turn signal covers, flipped the mirrors upside down, removed the front fender and relocated the turn signals to the forks. Next on my list is mini apes and forward controls.
Need some help though, im 5' 8"-5' 9" and can't decide between 12" or 14" apes. Is there anyone around the same height as me and runs 12-14" apes and forward controls? I would like to have 14" but don't want to be too stretched out. Thanks in advance!
Personally, I am not a fan of apes on any Sportster...but if you have to have them I would say 12'' for your height along with forwards. You didnt say if this was your first bike or not...if it is....I strongly suggest you get used to riding what you have now until you are a little more familiar with your bike....Apes drastically change the way your bike will handle...welcome to the board...I used to live in OKC, sons still live in Mustang.
i've got 10's on 4 inch risers, and they're too small for me, but I'm 6'4''. Sorry I couldn't help. They're in my sig pic, might be able to gauge about where a 14'' would be from it.
great looking sporty ... Love to hear about more young guys buying HDs ... Im around the same height as you and I was not comfortable on my buddies bike with 14 inch apes but I prefer drag bars anyway so it might just be my oveall bias towards them. A lot of times at dealers that have a bike ( usually a fatboy ) with interchangable bar setups but maybe that will help give you a better idea of comfort !

Thanks everyone for the replies, but this is my first Harley and not my first bike. It won't be until this summer whenever I get apes, I was just trying to get some input. I think I will be going with some 12" roland sands vintage apes, or some very similar to that style, since the RSD's are 300 bucks without cables.
I too dig the drag bar look on the sportys but I have always liked the apes a little better, and Im going for the bobber look.

Thanks, I used to live in BA. Are you going to Thunder Run this weekend at Thunder Roadhouse?
