Hi all,
Hopefully someone has personal experience on this...opinions also WC. I am considering having one of these custom shops cut my factory shocks, maybe 1" to 1.5"; I think the Stock Shocks on the 06' XL1200C are 14" (too High), My Progressive Shocks are 11" (too Low). Perhaps a custom cut to about 12.5" or 13" Might work just right. Would eliminate (minimize) my pipe grinding on the turns and allow me to stand flat. The issue is safety...How safe is it to ride with modified factory shocks. Again, I am not cutting them myself. Instead, I am considering sending them to one of the forums sponsors. What say the forum? And thanks for advice and comments.
I don't think it would be worth acutally having a shop modify your shocks. The stock shock on a Custom are 11.75". The roadster has longer shocks from from the factory and are close to 14" I believe, someone will correct me if I am wrong. You should check just what length your stock shocks are and just put them back on or sell your progressives and buy a longer length.
