My sincere condolences to you and your bike. Keep your eyes open, the cagers can't hear you coming anymore.

thanks, everyone. i've drilled 1/2 holes in the baffles for now, and i'll just have to endure an adjustment in my riding experience. right or wrong, like it or not, and granted the rules are being enforced on a somewhat inconsistent basis, but i like to ride carefree more than i need to ride baddass. and there is no easy faking that EPA and OEM stamping in the exhaust.

It's also been statistically proven time and time again that loud pipes DO NOT save lives - it scares motorists (actually causing MORE accidents).

obviously, there were lots of loud pipes in your town. the citizens got tired of listening to them and passed a law to quiet things down in their town. democracy at work. and most of the clowns with loud pipes go around making noise all the time-revving the motor at red lites-roaring thru the gears constantly-etc.. you bring it on your self.

Unfortunately what you're going to find out is that local laws can be more restrictive but not less restrictive. It's just how it works.

Well, maybe I'll have to convince myself that quiet is a good thing somehow. I miss my nasty!
I am sure you neighbors apprediate the quiter pipes ... trust me you are doing them a favor

Newport is an old seaport city that derives most of it's income from tourism, and with all the narrow streets and old victorian houses, I see the point on loud vehicles. It might be liberating to ride a much more quiet motorcycle.

Where are these "statistics" you cite? Please post a link to your scientific research. Specifically the research indicating motorists are scared into even MORE accidents. I say BS.

Cool Loud pipes saving lives,,,,,

I'm ridin down the main drag In my cager, A/C blastin,,Stereo on but not
loud,,,
I see a Harley commin up behind me,,,I don't hear jack ****..

He gets next to me,,side by side and I hear His Badass pipes,,
passes me and His pipes vibrate my mirros,,cool,,,

Had a bike cross an Intersection In front of me,,I DID NOT hear him
commin at me,,,only picked up sound as he was very close,,,
He had loud pipes...

So,,How do loud pipes help save lives ???

I guess If yer windows are down an yer payin attention you'd hear em
commin up,,,I can,,
BUT not with the windows up an A/C on.........

So,,How do loud pipes help save lives ???

I'll just keep playin my game,,
What game you ask ??
It's a Trek thing,,, Me an my bike are cloaked,,,Invisible In all circumstanses all the time.

I ride Into positions that they MUST be able to see me when I can
But I assume that they never do see me,,,EVER XD

i agree. and in reading this discussion about loud pipes saving lives, i think that loud pipes probably do more harm than good in the minds and respect zones of motorists. maybe only other bikers like loud pipes. pedestrians and cagers most likely have a negative feeeling toward bikers after getting passed by really loud and maybe startling sound.
