I have been reading all the winsheild threads I can find. I have an XL1200C and this is my first bike and loving it.
Can experienced ones on here tell me, will getting a windsheild make a huge difference on the bike? Right now it feels like the wind is going to sweep me off the bike anything above 50mph! Death grip on the bars and after 10 miles down the highway I am fatigued!
I am down to the slipstreamer falcon or the Standard Harley. I was in the shop today and had a guy hold one up and looks like I need the 14in one which supprised me cause I'm 6'2".
The slipstream was quoted at $205 and the Harley quick-release was $285 out the door,,,(slipstream is not quick release)
I have a Memphis Shades 17 inch detachable, and I can tell you it made a world of difference. I too felt like I was going to get blown off the bike. With the shield on, I get a little bit of wind (buffeting) coming from below but nothing that hits me in the face or chest. Bottom line..... HUGE difference.
Easily see over the top, not so large as to make the bike look like a cruiser and yet its enough to block a lot of wind but still allow some by to keep you cool as needed.

Came with my '06 1200c. I've had the Slip Streamer Spitfire and this covers more area. I've also had the Memphis Shades Rio Grande on a Street Bob. I like the HD windshield because it is smaller yet provides good protection.
I have the HD quick release on a 09 1200L, due to experience I bought it before I left
the dealership the day I bought it. You will feel a great difference than without and
with a quick release off in 20 sec, and cruise local.
I ride a 1200C too. I ride 80mph on the superslab all the time and never feel like im gonna get sweept off from the wind hitting me. I used to have a detachable HD windsheld too, the tall one. The wind coming off the top of that would baffle the chit out of my head, i sold it on ebay and made 95% of my money back. So in other words you may not like it.
I have one I took off my 2003 xlh883 ,, i didn't like the way the bike looked with it on there .. The wind doesn't bother me to much until I get over 85mph,, If you would like, I can send you mine an if you like it send me what you think it's worth,,if you don't like it or you see that you need one taller or shorter,,then you send it back to me,,or throw it away...i will not be putting back on mine so i don't need it.. Would like to see it go to some good use if someone wants it.. No need in it setting in my shop all up in the way..My email is jimjam1969@gmail.com. ... If this will help you out I will be glad to send it to you .....
I'm looking at some and seen some very low priced ones on ebay. Around 60 bucks or so for 15 inch ones that are tinted and look good. Based on reviews, people say they are decent. Here is one...
