Just bought my "first" Harley. Its a 03 883. Got a few questions. I would like a bigger gas tank. Where in the world is a good place to get one? I hear the Sportster ride is ruff. Is there any soften it up different shocks? I have put about 500 miles on it so far. I am so happy with it so far. Also whats the best way to polish the spoked wheels? thanks for any tips and help
Not to point it out but one year difference would have gotten you a rubber mount. As far as the spokes go I don't think there's any way around the manual effort
For the larger tank, you need to go with something like a "Fatbob" tank. I think I also saw a thread on here where some threw on a stock Dyna tank with no issues. I'm actually in the process of mocking up a fatbob tank on mine where the speedo gets moved down to the tank. However, I've got to mess with the tank mounts as the holes aren't aligned properly/to my liking.
A good tip for polishing rusted/pitted chrome is to use some 0000 steel wool along with your chrome polish. It works wonders, but there is no getting around the manual effort.
A better tip for chrome spoked wheels is to avoid them.
For laced wheels, I always used a cloth shoestring, wrap a loop around the spoke and pull the ends like you are trying to saw it in half while working it up and down. ( that does sound dirty ) Mothers has some real good stuff for the rims too, Chrome polish, it's in a short can, the stuff looks like dirty cotton. For the tank, try E-Bay, I got a 4 gal. strech tank form there for $200, included the ignition and coil relocation stuff too.
I hope this helps.

Many people are going to the Road King or other touring bike Air Shocks. Do a search for it hear in the forums. There is lots of info covering it. Mine just came in and I haven't installed them yet, or I would give you my opinion on them.
