Default Three options:

2004 1200C for $7,999. 14k miles.....At a dealership, can talk the price down some.

2007 1200C for $9,695. 8K miles.....At a dealership, same as above.

2007 1200C for $8,999. 5K miles....At a dealership, same as above.

When I ask why the price is so much higher than the NADA price of average retail. They said with lower mileage bike they add 120% to the price.

This is where I am confused, if the price for Average sale is just over $6,000 for the 2004. How do they think they can get $8,000 for it? That is amazing!

What would be a good offering price for these bikes?

Once again, I have an Iron 883 on order and will be here in a few days. $8,370 out the door price on it.

Thanks

2004 $5000
2007 $6000

The dealer took em in on trade,,,they want to make profit twice,,,
It's the American way,,we have a free market
Betcha they clear a grand at my prices,,,just sayin.

I Paid $8500 for a ONE year old 2008 1200 Roadster with 1800 miles,,,how you ask ??
they had 26 used Sportsters at that time.
Remember In 2009 the buy back at full price to trade up deal,,,they sold alot of Big bikes
to Sportster owners that year,,,

I bought my wife a 2007 883 Custom in Oct 2009 with 450 miles on it for $6,000 so I think those prices are a little too high. We are trading the same Sporty in for $4500 in 2 weeks on a 2011 HD1 1200 Custom.

You seem to be going back and forth on used or new? Is this your first bike? How many miles do you think you will ride a year? Is this a toy or a commuting vehicle? Are you riding solo or 2up? All this info will help to give you better answers as to what would be better for you. Where are you stationed? Ft. LW? I think I remember you saying it was a ways out of town?

Timing and inventory might explain it. I bought a 2006 XL1200C in early March for $7495. 3600 miles on the odometer. The bike came with Screamin' Eagle slip-ons, Stage I kit, HD Sportshield, HD Mini-Floorboards, Mustang Vintage Solo seat and pillion, engine guard, sissy bar and luggage rack and a couple other small gingerbread items. About $1600 in accessories I was planning on putting on anyway. Other 2006's I'd seen at other non-HD dealers or private sellers were going for $5500- $6000 - bone stock bikes. So, I figure I paid the right price.

My HD dealer had five used 2006 XL1200c's in stock, some with extras and one all stock. Mileage varied from 3600 to 11,500 miles. It just so happened the one I wanted had the lowest miles and the most accessories. Prices? Every one of them was priced at $7495. He's since gotten more in stock and as of this past Wednesday evening, he's asking $7495 for each.

By the way, my HD dealer puts new tires and brakes on every used bike he sells. Also does a new PA state inspection, too.

Paid $6600 for my '08 with 5K miles last May from private party. They delivered 80 mi to my home. Only ad on was SEII slip ons. I'd say keep looking. I'd be out of that dealer 120% faster and not go back.

Those prices all seem really high. But that's what dealers do. I'll never buy a car or bike from a dealer, new or used. I'm guessing if you're looking dealer it's because there aren't many used in you area.

dont know where you are, but here we use craigslist. bought my last 2 bikes from craigslist and much less than your dealer is charging. my sporty is an 08 and i bought it in 08 with less than 1k miles for $8k... basically a new bike that someone else paid the breakin dealer charge on. he also put some nice mods on it (pipes and sucker, plus some chrome parts i like).

I think those of us in CA and other cities are spoiled by the CL selection.
