Default Projector halogen headlight, any good?

Has anyone ever ridden a bike with (any type, make etc) halogen projector headlights? Just want to know if the lights are brighter, cleaner light.
Reason I ask is long story short, I wasn't happy with my duel headlight mod I made for my iron,*
So I went on a hunt for some ideas, came across a pair (one dip, one main beam) of really cheap set of projector halogen lights (see pic below)
Well after checking with the local authorities, I couldnt mount them where I want, didn't pass a MOT and could get pulled by police.
thinking of a mod to use them as I like the idea of better cleaner light so will be hitting the workshop tomorrow
I know there are aftermarket ones out there (like second pic) but at those prices for them I'm happy to mod lol*

The one you are holding will give you more focused and crisp light down the road. These are the preferred way to use HID lamps. You should get great results with that lamp. What wattage bulb will you be using?

I did just find this one on Ebay looks like a normal Headlight...for $99

I think the bulbs are 12v 100w just like the one you found, I did see that one on e(vil)bay when I was hunting for ideas. I'm thinking of mounting these ones using the stock headlight mount
I wanted to do away with the headlight completely and mount them the first lights on the lower forks but as I said not legal
