Default Looking for bar options

I have a 2010 Iron 883 with RSD clip ons. I think my bike looks sick as hell and I get a lot of compliments on it. The problem is... my friends like to go on these all day riding trips, and its killing my neck and back for the next 2 days. So I'm thinking about selling these clip ons and going with some kind of Z-bar or something similar. I've been searching to find what people have said and used as far as height of bars with stock wiring, but can't find a whole lot. So what's the tallest bar I can go with, without changing the wires. I'll be fine with brake lines and everything else if I need to change them. Suggestions are appreciated.

I've had mini-apes on my FXD, and 18" apes on my Panhead chopper, and clip-ons on my GSXR, and drag bars on my Nightster, and... I'm getting older at this point, and have to be in a sustainable riding position these days, so I can continue to ride. I've found that the stock Iron/48 bars put me in a really good riding position, but everyone is different. Go out, sit on your bike with it upright and feet on the pegs (have someone squeeze the front wheel between their legs, then it can't fall over), close your eyes, sit comfortably, and put your hands out. That is where your bars need to be. Measure that, and get bars that come close to that measurement for height and pullback.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking the 8" z-bars/apes/friscos will be the ticket. Just wondering now if the stock wiring will reach.

The stock wiring MIGHT fit, but the brake, throttle, and clutch probably will not. There are too many variables for me to say any better than that, sorry.

I've got 8.5" pull backs and drag bars, the only cable that was tight at all was one of the speedo cables which would be an issue for you if you aren't going to be using risers

I'm going to install the stock risers back on the bike.

Then you wouldn't encounter the same issue you I had

I think I'm gonna order the Road 6 Customs 8" Z-bars that look like RSD bars. I've seen a couple people on here say they worked with stock wiring, so we'll see...Internal wiring seems like a pain tho
