Carb problem

Im having trouble tunning my s&s shorty carb running lead black smoke out of exaust firsr cylinde

Please post year and model of your machine. If only one cylinder is smoking its not the carb. Remove the spark plug. What color is it? Is it covered with oil? Or is it sooty black and smells like gas? An oily plug would indicate leaking valve seals or worn piston rings. A black plug indicates a fouled plug or a weak spark (bad ignition wire or coil). Always start with the simple things first. Replace both spark plugs. Check the spark. With the plug connected to the wire, hold the threaded part of the plug against the cylinder. Key on, press the start button. Is the spark a bright blue-white color or a yellow orange color? Blue is good, orange means a bad coil or wire. Invest in service manual it will help.
