I am a new rider, getting ready to buy my first HD. I have a co-worker offering to sell me a mint condition 2005 Harley Davidson 1200 XL Custom with Screaming Eagle pipes. It has 2600 miles. He wants to sell it to me for 5,000.00. I think this is a great buy, but I'm 6-2 200 lbs basically tall and lanky. Is this a price I should jump on, and is this bike too small for me. I dont want to look dorky on it.
If it has forward controls you will fit it just fine. If not add them. 5K is a good deal on that bike, especially for the mileage. Im 6'1" 250 and fit on my Sporty just fine.

In my opinion you're too tall. I'm 6 foot 200. The Sporty (xl1200c) was OK for bar hopping but for going on any decent ride it just didn't get it. Struggles on the freeway and even with a windshield and touring seat wasn't comfortable. I now own a Road Glide. Couldn't be happier.

Hey, My 1200 C is great, fast, easy, lite, quick, at 6' and 195 I fit ok, but from time to time I want the big cruser, 5K is unreal, go for it!

As a new rider you should be concerned with getting a "right bike" to learn on instead of how you will look on it. just saying ....
