I was changing my oil and found a loose hose. Very small feeding from the bottom of the air filter to the area of my oil filter. Its connected at the point up under the air filter but not connected to anything down by my oil filter:
Pretty gunky in there.
Heres where it connects up under the air filter though im sure your already visualizing it:
I cant wait to get my service manual!
As if it wasnt clear enough, shoudlnt this hose be connected to somthing?
If so, what concerns should I have now having found it disconnected?
What should I look for on the engine mounts for signs of wear from being exposed to oil?
Thinking if this is is indeed the overflow there must be a better way to run it.
(Now to shine this lovey up.)

Reason: Found my answer...
Im getting a little bit of foaming in my oil (tiny bubbles really), I had the plug out for a bit when i was changing it so im hoping its condensation i can just burn off with a longer ride. I guess ill change the oil again in a day or 2 if it persists, though the more i read the more i find that a small bit of foaming after a short ride is normal.
Still hoping someone will confirm my suspicion that the hose in question is just a overflow and not crucial.

Thats the overflow tube for your carb if the float sticks. Sposed to be there.
The foaming in your oil tank is normal from the Sportster sump pump oil system.
Its always good to get temps up to operating temps to keep the condensation out of the oil.
