The guards look alright with the 4.5 gal. tank, only because the whole bike looks fatter anyway. With the peanut tank though, I'd probably go guardless. Alexcue is right: vanity sucks.

I love the look it gives my bike. Plus it gave me a good place to mount helmet locks and a future place to mount highway foot pegs.

YOU must choose. Take em off. If you don't like it, put em back on. I personally enjoy the pure naked Sporty styling.

3 bolts to add, 3 to remove...It's a matter of opinion to me as well...

If you plan on taking your bike on longer trips, I would add highway pegs and keep the guard. Being able to reposition your feet and butt make a world of difference on long rides.

When I bought my used 05 1200 C it had crash bars and a detachable windshield. I have since added Harley leather bags, mini rail and backrest and a few other blings. made it into a Road Prince (baby Road King). It all depends on what you want.

If you haven't ever dropped a bike, you will and when you do, if you have crash bars, you will be glad.

I was actually thinking about adding them to mine. If you want to get rid of them, let me know.
