Hi,
I recently bought a 2009 XL1200c, which came with screaming eagle I exhaust, but with no baffles inside. I am searching for some baffles to insert into the mufflers.
I looked into Cycle shack, but don't think it will fit. The Big city thunder are well evaluated in the related threads on the forum, but it seems they are loud.
What I am looking for is a drivable sound (not too loud) with the deep grumble. What do you suggest?
I had the BCT original baffles on my Vance and Hines Straight Shots and they didn't make the exhaust that loud. I suggest you look at their quite baffles that are just a tad louder than the original ones but provides a deeper sound and are said to perform better.
Get a set of Rush slip on's. By the time you buy the baffles for the SE slip on's if you can evern get just the baffles you will have close to the same money.
Cycle shack baffles should fit, give them a call. You can always see what HD would charge for replacement baffles if they can order them separately. Like XL50#674 said though, you may just want to consider swapping out the slip ons all together. Rush offers slip ons with different size baffles available depending on how much or how little bark you want them to have.
I don't want to pay the extra cost for changing the whole slip ons. I like the SE ones, so I just need to insert some baffles. Consider that I live over seas,. Shipping will cost me a lot less for the baffles then the whole slip on.
As long as they didn't damage the internals of the actual muffler this should be very doable. I put the link for cycle shack at the bottom. The ones I bought are at the bottom of that page. I did not end up using them though, because the stock ones weren't budging. I shipped them back. Looked like nice baffles though. I'm going to end up changing out the whole system because in the end that's what I was planning on doing anyhow.
Thanks for the info.
But I can't find the cycle shack baffles that will fit my SE slip on. From what I measured with the little tools I have, the inside end of the muffler is around 3.1 inches. None of the Cycle shack has this size. Am I missing something here?
Hi again,
Last weekend, I received my Cycle shack baffles and installed them on my SE exhaust. They sure sound great...but I think I will be loosing my hearing soon!
They are loud! Any ideas how to reduce the sound of these baffles??
Thx
