Just picked up an 09 (carryover) Nightster this past weekend and I noticed in the manual that there is a security system on these. According to the manual there is supposed to be two FOB's that came with this and armed by the dealer? I called the dealer and they told me that this was an option and not standard on this model and year, and if I wanted it installed it is a $300 option.
Is this BS or are they being straight forward with me? Can someone please clarify?
Depends on the options that came w/your bike - did you check the VIN & see if yours came w/security? Also, the dealer should've ID'd if this bike had security when they were working the sale & FOBS would've been included w/all the other paperwork & equip. they handed over after you signed.
Short answer is "yes" security is an option & not all HD's come w/it standard fm factory...
Security was a factory option. If you ordered the bike from the factory you got two fobs. If it was a dealer installed option you got one fob. At least that's how they explained my one fob instead of two.
This is true We just bought two brand new Sportsters....an Iron 883 and a Superlow. We got the security system on the Superlow but not on the Iron 883. It was an option for both bikes I was told that if I want to add one on mine then it would be $300 as an add on.
