Default Rainy day off at the dealer

Day off and decided to walk into the stealer and look at clothing, bikes etc. Salesman asked me what i rode and i said a Sporty and he said i have alot of folks looking for one and i said "I'm sure". I sat on about every model in the show room Dynas, Road King, Road Glide, Fatbob/Boy , Ultra etc etc. Only thing that i thought felt decent was a Road King. It and the Ultra's with the batwing fairing were tanks in there own right, weight wise.

I just cant see myself on one of these boats. Guess its Sportster's or bust for me. The only other bike i've set on in awhile was the Honda VTX 1300. Although i doubt i would own one they Honda's are more comfortable machines hands down.

The weight of the Sportster is simply perfect although somewhat top heavy. What they say is right. You sit in all the other HD's with the exception being the Sportster where you sit on top of the bike. Guess what? I prefer to be on top of the bike. It's a control thing if you will. The Sportster is just one damn fine machine. Sure there is nothing fancy about it. Its pure and raw like the majority who choose them over any other HD offering.

Only downs i have on a Sportster are having to refuel at 100 and some change which is fine in all aspects. The seat which i replaced (sundowner) which i may with a Mustang solo at some point. And the suspension which if i get bored is a easy and inexpensive fix.

If you can't tell i'm a Sporster lover lol. I might trade up my Roadster to a 48 or Nightster at some point.

I sat on several bikes at the dealer (I just can't help it). I had the same feeling to be seating "on" the bike with Dynas. I lowered my bike and I feel more "in" the bike.

Man, I have not ridden any other Harley so I wouldn't be able to compare but my Sporty, at least, is wonderful in handling. Top heavy for sure, but after a while I didn't find it to be a handicap.

Dribbles cars and other obstacles just fine and the narrowness of the bike...I just love it!

I never did Understand this often said, "Top Heavy" remark about the Sportsters.

I've owned Mini bikes, Dirt bikes, one Crotch Rocket and even a GS 1100 Goldwing at 750Lbs.
Have logged good miles on a freinds dyna and even did 50 miles onna HD Dresser,
don't remember the name,,was over 20 years ago.
All the street bikes I've been on all handled vastly different.

The Sporty takes a little more attention when riding the steering stop
during U-turns than the dresser or the wing and I know this Is due to
a higher CG.
I bet the CG Is only about 3-5" higher on a sporty if that.
Anyways thats the only time I notice this "Top heavy" traight on my roadster.
It's just not an Issue.

The CG onna modern sport bike has to be alot higher, I guess this Is not an Issue
for Rubber Riders because the Rockets are alot lighter.

I know how you feel man. I was sitting on a 2009 Nightaine a few weekends ago and I love the looks fo that bike, but it did not feel as good to me as the sporty. My leg hits the pimary bad as i'm only 5'8" and over all the bike just felt big and clunky to me. I have rode a Fat Boy and a few other HD's and none of them are as fun as my 1200's. At some point I would love to have and SG, but I'm still too young for one of them 33 years old.
