I have after market slip ons not sure of brand. I removed the baffle/packing material and love the sound, but took it for a spin and it seems like it performs worse? Like it doesn't rev up the rpms as quick as it did with baffles in? How are you guys running just headers and no mufflers? 04 1200R, stage 1 intake. Dyno'd 70hp/69ft.lbs. just looking for a bit more till winter mods.
Take the packing off the baffle sand re install them you will feel your power go back up. You need to tune for no baffles or make some lollipops for a little back pressure.
Yeah you will feel the some lack in low end punch. I have open pipes on my XL50 and the bike is tuned for it. I like the way it runs with the open pipes and it still have a nice low end punch to it. Open slip on's sound a bit funny to me-I had then before since they are so big and open. Get some smaller open pipes and you will get a bit of the low end back and it will sound even better.
